A new animal sanctuary in Covina, California

Help us build the SGV's first animal sanctuary.

It started with one allergic cat named Bean — and grew into a home where rescued cats heal, ferals learn to trust, injured birds recover, and butterflies who can't fly live out their days in peace. Right now it lives in a house in Covina, and we need your help to keep it alive.

Rent due now · every animal at risk

We are — and always will be — 100% kill-free. Not just cats, not just the cute ones: every creature that ends up here gets care, time, and patience until the very end. And as a full animal sanctuary, we'd be the first of our kind in the San Gabriel Valley.

Where your help goes

What we need, in order.

Our home is the sanctuary — so keeping the rent paid keeps every animal here safe. One GoFundMe covers it all, and we spend every dollar in this exact order.

1

Keep the lights on Most urgent

$3,000/mo rent

Our home is the sanctuary. If we can't make rent, every animal here loses their safe place — so this always comes first.

2

Bean's dental surgery

$3,000surgery

Bean is allergic to his own teeth and needs full dental extraction to live pain-free. He's the reason all of this exists — the moment we're safe, he's next.

3

Food, vet care & daily needs

Ongoing

Food and daily care for every resident, plus routine and emergency vet bills — the constant cost of keeping a houseful of animals healthy.

4

Break ground on the sanctuary

The dream

A real, visitable animal sanctuary with a cafe attached — something the SGV has never had. Every dollar is a brick in the foundation.

Meet the welcoming committee

Bean makes friends with every stray who crosses our path.

As our namesake and very first rescue, Bean is the official welcoming committee. He has a unique, gentle gift for befriending every single stray we bring in — showing the frightened ones that it's safe to trust again.

"He's the face of our rescue and the inspiration behind everything we do."

Now the cat who takes care of everyone else needs a little care himself. With your help, we can heal Bean — and protect every animal who's found a home under our roof.

Every animal has a name & a story

Meet the residents.

Not just cats. Not just the cute ones. Every creature that ends up here gets care, time, and patience — no exceptions. Here's who you're helping.

Bean

Bean

Founder 🐱

Tuxedo cat and the reason all of this exists. Currently fighting a severe allergy to his own teeth — and still the heart of the house.

Cheeto

Cheeto

Bean's sister

Bean's sister, here since the very beginning. Part of the family from day one.

Night

Night

Reformed feral

Arrived feral and terrified. Now he's the biggest teddy bear in the house — proof that patience works.

Spicy

Spicy

Resident grump

Mean to everyone for absolutely no reason. We love her anyway — that's the whole point.

The Ferals

The Ferals

In training

Two unnamed ferals we're taming one slow, trust-building day at a time. Names come when they're ready.

🕷️

Spooky

Jumping spider 🕷️

A jumping spider who is, ironically, scared of everything. Tiny, curious, and completely beloved.

🦋

The Monarchs

Summer guests 🦋

Every summer we host deformed monarchs who can't fly. Outdoors means certain death. They live here. They're loved here.

🐦

The Birds

Rescued & healed

When the cats hurt them, we take responsibility and nurse them back to health. Every life here matters.

Bean and Night
The story behind it all

There's a little girl behind all of this.

She grew up crying because she couldn't understand why so many animals had to suffer. She's still here. She just stopped crying and started doing something about it.

"Bean and Friends is what that looks like."
